As one of the most popular social media platforms in the world, Pinterest currently has 478 million monthly active users (Pinterest, 2021). It is currently ranked as the 14th most popular social media platform in the world.

The fashion image on the left is an example of how fashion brands get attention on the platform. Pinterest is a unique platform with an equally unique business model that differentiates it from other photo-sharing websites. Rather than having users share photos directly with friends, users instead curate personal pinboards of existing photos uploaded by friends, strangers, and even companies.

Pinterest is a website that helps you find and organize pictures ideas and interesting things through a series of user created categories of boards and a series of bookmarks that they call pins.

Pinterest pins can include photos videos drawings animations internet links and more there are tons of different topics of boards on Pinterest so you're sure to find something that interests you. There are lots of reasons people like to use Pinterest, for example, some like to use it to find new recipes or to try or to discover travel destinations. Other people may use Pinterest to find things to make them laugh or smile.

In other words its where you can pin your pics. Some people use it for business as a business tool. That includes a business version.

So what about the current user profile for Pinterest? 14.5% of Pinterest users are male. 32% of Pinterest users are 18-29 years old. 34% of Pinterest users are 30-49 years old. 38% of Pinterest users are between the ages of 50 and 64, representing the largest age demographic on the platform.

Although the platform is historically popular among Millennials, the demographics of Pinterest are shifting. Unlike competing networks, there's less of a generational divide on Pinterest.

When it comes to generating income from Pinterest, here's a bit of insight: Pinterest will pay you directly if you're part of the Creator Rewards program and your content meets the goal requirements and eligibility criteria.

It's really more of a search engine than a social media channel. People may search for a topic. EWhen you click a pin, you go to that website. Facebook and twitter gives more updates - which is very different. Pinterest is a social media platform that people often overlook and its future is still being realized as more people discover its uses.
