Closing out 2022 and entering 2023, we welcome an action movie renaissance with the set releases of some highly anticipated film projects. We go from Science fiction dramas with amazing set pieces to gritty action thrillers and sports drama. Avatar 2: Way of Water
Avatar 2: Way of Water represents the long awaited return of what is hailed as one of the most successful films of all time. James Cameron’s Sci-Fi saga finally continues as we revisit the world of Pandora. We return years later and see Jake and Neytiri raising a family and teaching the ways of the Navi people. The production team and development behind this film has clearly been meticulous with the breathtaking sets, environments, and major sequences that will set the stage for an ongoing series of Avatar films.
John Wick Chapter IV
John has truly been through the ringer in what seems like a nonstop thrill ride complete with a flurry of mayhem and violence. This is a consistent theme since things kicked off on his return to the world of assassins in the first movie.
After taking an enormous tumble off the Continental Hotel, we see John making his final stand against the High Table. We can expect another action packed return to form for Keanu Reeves and a hard hitting supporting cast with action superstars such as the iconic Donnie Yen and Scott Adkins. We can’t wait to see all the creative choreography that these masters of martial arts fight scenes brings together. It's going to be a joy to witness how the story wraps up in the main series. Many spin offs appear to be on the table so we will surely get more John Wick in the future. This iteration should set things to the peak of what the team behind it has to offer.
Creed III
The smash hit trilogy successor to Rocky has been a wild ride taking our protagonist Adonis creed from the very bottom with no hope to champion. This film changes the dynamic by creating a face off between the underdog opponent, Damien Anderson (portrayed by Jonatan Majors) who has nothing to lose and everything to gain and the reigning champ, Creed himself. We get to see Jonathan Majors square off against Michael B Jordan in what should make for a dynamic and emotional entry to the series.
Ant Man & The Wasp: Quantumania
The beloved Ant-man and Wasp duo make a return in this Marvel sequel that is set to take us through another mind-bending experience featuring the size changing antics of our titular characters. We don’t know a whole lot about the overall plot just yet but funny enough Jonathan Majors who also stars as the counter in Creed III will be introduced to the MCU as Kang the Conqueror. We hope to see as many comedic and exciting sequences play out, as well as a heartfelt story akin to the original. Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly return as Ant Man and Wasp. This should be a project that is a fun ride to jump into.
