The hustle is on in Miami-Dade, and for those of us paying attention, the timing couldn’t be more critical. Just two days ago, on July 9, the Office of the Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections officially kicked off the distribution of Vote-by-Mail (VBM) ballots for the August 18 Primary Election. Watch the first episode of the "Election Season Special Series" below with instructions on How to get your BALLOT mailed to you right away, and 3 ways to VOTE 2026.
Seeing that massive operation get underway at the headquarters warehouse—with 168,000 ballots hitting the road—serves as a powerful reminder: the process is in full swing, but it requires your active participation to work.

The Big Takeaway: Request Your Ballot Today
If you haven't received your ballot yet, don't just sit back and wait. The most important message right now is simple: Request your ballot.
My take? The urgent effort to get these ballots out is in full effect, but it only matters if you're on the list to receive one. They will send it to you, but you have to take that first step. The job of getting these ballots out to every corner of the county is enormous—so make it worth their time by making sure yours is filled out and returned. Your vote truly matters.
Critical Updates You Need to Know

Supervisor of Elections Alina Garcia has emphasized that building public trust through secure, fair, and accessible elections is the top priority. To keep that trust, we all need to be informed about how the process works this cycle.
Renew Your Request: Remember, under Florida law, VBM requests expire after every general election. If you haven't renewed your request since January 1, 2025, you need to act now.
Check Your Address: The U.S. Post Office will not forward your ballot. If you’ve moved, you must update your address with the Supervisor of Elections office or complete a new Statewide Vote-By-Mail Ballot Request Form.
Don’t Wait Until the Deadline: While the last day to request a ballot is August 6, 2026, waiting is a gamble you don't need to take.
The Return Trip: Your ballot must be received by the Supervisor of Elections no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day (August 18).
Pro-tip: Mail it back as early as possible. Getting it in early gives the office time to contact you if there’s a signature issue, ensuring your vote is counted.
